Executive Director

Demonica was born and raised on the southside of Chicago, IL. She received her Bachelor of Science in Community Health and Spanish from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and her Master of Public Health and Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Currently she is pursuing a Doctor of Public Health degree from the Penn State College of Medicine. In addition, she is a research and teaching assistant at the Penn State College of Medicine in the Department of Public Health Sciences working with HIV, maternal and child health outcomes, and COVID-19 related research. She is also an adjunct professor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville teaching courses in the Public Health program.

Her background includes clinical research, HIV and STI prevention and education, and working with vulnerable [youth] populations. Her passions include addressing the needs, advocating for the rights of, and empowering youth and young adults by supporting environments of autonomy, respect and understanding between professionals and the populations served. Demonica’s passions were fueled by the core values instilled in her by her mother. She is dedicated to living out her mother’s legacy to lead and give with a servant’s heart. 

Demonica enjoys traveling, trying new foods, serving God, and helping others in whatever capacity she can.

“Your life’s work is to find your life’s work—and then to exercise the discipline, tenacity, and hard work it takes to pursue it.” This quote has resonated with Dr. Knox since she was a child, but most especially, this mantra propels her every day. 

Dr. Dominique Knox was born and raised in Chicago, IL where she discovered her love for dentistry at a very young age through her passion for making others smile. Dr. Knox migrated to Washington D.C. where she obtained her undergraduate degree and Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Howard University; she went on to complete her General Practice and hospital dental residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in New York. Dr. Knox currently practices in Maryland and Virginia with her primary focus in emergency dentistry and treating those who lack access to care. Dr. Knox works closely with her patients to create life-long dental plans that promote comprehensive oral health and confident smiles.

In her spare time, Dr. Knox enjoys traveling, fitness, mentoring, and spending time with loved ones. Her life's work is to provide quality care, support those in need, and give without expectation.



Communications and Marketing Strategist

LaRia Land, a true Chicagoan, is a passion driven communications professional that is equally dedicated to big-picture strategic planning and individual task execution. LaRia earned her Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Mass Communication from the North Carolina A&T State University and her Master of Public Relations and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University. Proven success as a social media manager, as well as a proficient researcher and creative writer, with experience in diverse professional sectors, including publishing, law enforcement, education, insurance and nonprofit.

Outside of caring for her loving Maltese pup Winston, LaRia enjoys spending time with family, friends, and good red wine.

Awawu Ojikutu is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner with a strong passion for mental health and addiction medicine. She understands that managing your thoughts, feelings, mood, and behavior can be challenging. She believes there is no health without mental health, and individuals who seek care need compassion and support. She has dedicated herself to motivating patients to be the best version of themselves through medication management and evidence-based therapies.

Awawu was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. She completed her undergraduate degree at the illustrious Howard University. Thereafter, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing at George Washington University. Currently, completing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice, focusing on Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at the University of Maryland School of Nursing.



Board Member

Charnell Thweatt, a Certified Public Accountant, earned her Bachelor of Science in accounting and her Master of Business Administration with a focus in accounting from Howard University. Charnell is a Virginia native and  has 8 years of experience, focused in public accounting, consulting, finance, and real estate. Her passion is coaching and mentoring others. Hence, she is the founder of CPT Consulting LLC  and is currently pursuing a certification with the Career Coach Institute. 

In her free time, Charnell enjoys spending time with her family, staying active, and trying new things. When she’s not watching Netflix or traveling, she also enjoys reading, giving back, and teaching financial literacy to children in her surrounding communities.
